PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The Global Finance Shared Services (GFSS) belongs to one of the main pillars of Global Finance which is Global Finance Infrastructure. The Global Finance Shared Services Environment allows SAP to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness as well as quality of the finance processes while delivering global end-to-end process standards.

 

Within GFSS, the members of CoE Cost Accounting (Center of Expertise) are experienced Controllers or Accountants that proactively and collectively perform the business processes or own the technical processes they are assigned to globally. Interaction and collaboration with GFSS process delivery teams, other Line of Business (Controlling, HR, GPO, Facility Management, etc), other work-streams (P2P, O2I, etc) and local representatives like Local Chief Accountants and Local Tax Managers is essential. Being part of GFSS, CoE members are responsible to deliver the best quality services to all internal customers supported by the organization. This role reports to the Global Cost Accounting CoE Manager; however there is no physical move necessary to a GFSS location, a CoE member remains in his/her current location building a virtual team with the other CoE members.

 

 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

As a member of the CoE Cost Accounting, you will be able to accelerate your accounting and controlling profession to the next level by focusing on the dedicated process topics that you would be assigned to as well as working across various process groups. You will be assigned to a process group which you will be expected to concentrate and build expert knowledge on primarily. In addition, this role offers many development opportunities on other skills and competencies as you will be engaged in activities such as global projects, process improvement initiatives and standardization initiatives.

 

Process Groups:

Regional Champion Coordinating cost allocations mainly between Controlling and Delivery Teams
IT cost allocation Coordinating cost allocations mainly between Controlling and Delivery Teams
Escalation Controlling Governance Coordinating cost allocations with Controlling and Accounting
ICO Governance Office Taking care of IP Cost allocation and Cost Pooling
Transfer Price Responsible Defining with Tax Guidelines for Transfer Price Calculation and coordination of the same with Controlling
Ownership of technical process CBAC ICO charging system and Activity Recording
Enforcement of the Cost Allocation Framework Define with the respective Business Unit Controllers Guidelines how cost should be allocated at SAP while considering legal obligations like COS and rules for Inter Company

 

COE members will place emphasis on specific process group(s) and not on the entire portfolio. You will be assigned to principle process group(s) based on the assessment of your experience, skills set and interest.  And secondary process group(s), other than the principle process group(s), will be assigned for supplementary/back-up support purpose.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your global governance role will include the following:

Provide guidance on local cost allocation at SAP and coordinate the interaction between the Lines of Business, the CoE Cost Accounting and the SSC.
Fulfill a trusted process advisor and consultancy role by setting up close partnering with internal customers especially in Business Unit Controlling and respective local Finance and Admin functions
Analyze, design and roll out of new procedures and tools for cost allocation together with other stakeholders in CoE Cost Accounting
Ensure a high quality operation, implement checks and controls to enforce the global guidelines and policies for cost allocation.
Constantly focus on process improvements with the goal to increase the process automation, accuracy and efficiency. You are responsible to coordinate required process adoptions, enhancements and accompany the related IT implementations
Support cross functional projects managed in CoE Cost Accounting in cooperation with other functions (e.g. controlling process manager).

 

 

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

 

Required Skills

Degree in Business Administration or similar, preferably with emphasis on Controlling /Finance
Experience in cost accounting- or controlling processes – preferably within SAP ERP
Conceptual and structured work style with a strong sense for prioritization, result and execution orientation
Customer focus and strong interpersonal, verbal, presentation and writing skills
High level of self-confidence to enforce Guidelines and Policies governed by you and the team
Creative thinker and strong process affinity
Problem identification and skills to propose solution
Strong team member in both virtual and non-virtual teams

Preferred Skills

Project management skills and experience in driving complex and cross functional projects
Motivated to work in an international and fast paced environment
High level of flexibility and agility
Strong English language skills, German a plus

 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

Professionally Qualified (Management-) Accountant / Controller
At least 1 year of experience in SAP within the Global Finance & Administration board area with direct involvement in Controlling/Finance process, or at least 3 years of experience in SAP under any board areas.
At least 2 years of practical (management-) accounting experience
